My mother was treated by Dr Barve 30 years ago when she was suffering from severe abdominal pains, later she was diagnosed with Gastric ulcers. In USA, I reached out to many doctors (my own primary care physician, neurologist, chiropractor, gastroenterologist etc.) I even did a stress test, and everything was normal. I was told I had a sliding hiatal hernia 3 cm. This continued for 3-4 months after which in May 2013 I decided to get it diagnosed in Mumbai. After talking to Mr. Barve (our neighbor) he suggested to see his brother Dr. Jayant Barve.

The fact that I was able to get an appointment the same day with Dr. Barve late in the evening at 9:00pm was itself a surprise since in USA, doctors only work from 9:00am to 5:00pm. After that you have to visit a hospital emergency room. The appointments are also available 2-3 months in advance. I explained the symptoms to Dr. Barve, he mentioned that the visits to chiropractor was completely unnecessary. Dr. Barve’s ability to find the root cause of the issue and his excellent approach to problem solving was evident as he told me to get 3 tests

• Endoscopy to determine if there was indeed any hiatal hernia
• Sonography of upper abdomen
• CT coronary angiogram

I feel very fortunate to have visited Dr. Barve at the time. His quick thinking and diagnosis saved me from any complications. First two tests were normal, there was no hiatal hernia. It turned out I had 90% blockages in my coronary arteries. Dr. Barve immediately referred me to Dr. Menon (cardiologist) and gave me medicines. I then visited Dr. Menon on a priority basis (since I was referred by Dr. Barve) and my problem was resolved.

I sincerely want to express my gratitude towards Dr. Barve. I feel fortunate and blessed to know such an expert in medical field. He is not only an expert in his field but also has the best problem-solving ability. His availability to meet in-person shows that he truly cares for his patients and takes ownership. Doctors usually have their assistants meet patients first. The trust he builds with his patients is outstanding. His calm and composed nature makes the patient feel at home.
