Vomiting is a common symptom which can be transient or recurrent, mild or severe, due to minor ailments like acidity to serious diseases like cancer, kidney, failure, liver disease, etc. Vomiting can be a symptom of following serious problems.
1. AcidityAcidity is one of the most common symptoms that a patient experiences. It usually means burning sensation in upper abdomen or burning in the chest region ie heartburns. 3. GastritisInflammation of inner lining of stomach due to various factors like infection (bacterial, H. Pylori, fungal, tuberculosis,viral, parasitic etc.) various drugs (pain killers, antibiotics, anticancer drugd etc.) may lead to vomiting. |

4. StressStress is known to aggravate acidity. Hence psychosomatic factors also need to be attended to. From occasional minor episode of vomiting up to serious condition like bulimia are due to psychosomatic factors. |

5. Intestinal ObstructionColiky, moderate or severe generalised pain in abdomen, recurrent vomiting, inability to pass flatus or abdominal tightness should raise a strong suspicion of intestinal obstruction, which will need admission to the hospital. |
